| November 2, 2015 12:45 PM

On the morning of Oct. 28, America lost one of its proudest patriots, Joseph D. McGowan, Sr. He passed away peacefully at home supported by his loving family.

Joe was born in Wellsburg, W.V. on Oct. 26, 1931. He spent his formative years in Pittsburgh, Penn. After school he answered the call and served honorably in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. His business career dealt predominantly in aerospace, including manning the moon, defense contracts and lobbying in Washington, D.C. He also traveled the world as a liaison for Boeing and NASA. Joe’s greatest accomplishment in life was his family.

He is survived by Sandy, his wife of 52 years; five sons and their families; including nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The family celebrated his life at a service in the family home on Saturday, Oct. 31. Please sign the online guestbook or leave a note for the family at www.kayserschapel.com. Arrangements are in care of Kayser’s Chapel & Crematory.
