OK, this is it, right down to the last weekend of the spring turkey season for this year. Sunday is the last day of the season.

Free Fishing Weekend one week away

Next weekend, June 6 and 7, will be the Free Fishing Weekend in Washington.

During those two days, no license will be required to fish or gather shellfish in any waters open to fishing in Washington State. Also, no vehicle access pass or Discover Pass will be required during Free Fishing Weekend to park at any of the nearly 700 water-access sites maintained by Fish and Wildlife, but may be required on Park and Natural Resources sites.

Anglers will not need a Two Pole Endorsement to fish with two poles on selected waters where two pole fishing is permitted. Anglers will also not need a Columbia River Salmon and Steelhead Endorsement, otherwise required to fish for salmon and steelhead in the Columbia River and its tributaries.

This is a great time to get the family into the Great Outdoors and catch a few fish. Grab the fishing regulations and take a picnic lunch and head for Park Lake, Blue Lake or Deep Lake.

While no licenses are required on Free Fishing Weekend, other rules such as size limits, bag limits and closures will still be in effect. Anglers will also be required to complete a catch record card for any salmon or steelhead they catch.

Catch record cards are available free at hundreds of sporting goods stores and other license dealers throughout the state.

Dennis note: Just in time for Free Fishing Weekend is a Tri State Outfitters ad spotted in the Columbia Basin Herald yesterday. They are offering four different fishing rod and reel combinations for under $20 each. One is less than $10. It has been a long time since I have seen such a deal. Take advantage of this offer.
