Rock Creek lots being developed

ROYAL CITY - The Rock Creek Housing Development is moving along about as builder Tony Jenks expected, maybe a little better. Five lots have closed, and building is well under way.

The next five lots have been reserved, and Jenks said they should be closing soon. Access to the building site is through Widmer Street. When the project is complete, Widmer will be connected to Road F, giving the project east side access.

The land being developed starts with a row of view lots on the south side of Widmer. Those go for $45,000. Most of the rest of the total 55 lots are selling for $35,000.

There are three people involved in the project. Jenks, who has been in business for years all over the Northwest, is the builder. Tyler Franks is handling the sales. And the property belongs to Jerry Allred.

"Jerry is more interested in seeing the community grow than in making a lot of money. That's why the prices are so reasonable," Jenks said.

Jenks purchased the first view lot, which is located where Widmer enters the project. He and his wife Allison built a 4,300-square foot tri-level which they are now occupying with their six children.

These will mostly be custom homes. Jenks quotes buyers a cost of $95 per square foot. Buyers may use their own builder. All they need to do is obtain approval of their plans from the covenants and restrictions committee.

Jenks said town homes are planned for the area north of the street north of Widmer. The configuration will be 4-plex.

There is a 10-year goal for the entire development, but it could be finished sooner, considering the response.

"Sales are going about as well as could be expected," Jenks said.
