ROYAL CITY - Thanks to the Royal Schools Parent Teacher Organization, Red Rock Elementary students were visited by the Pacific Science Center last Friday with a special presentation on the human anatomy.

According to school counselor Nicole Dunn, the Science on Wheels presentation was organized by the RPTO, and RPTO members helped with the presentation. It was aptly named Blood and Guts.

The Pacific Science Center, of Seattle, presented its show in two assemblies. First- and second-graders went separately from the third-, fourth- and fifth-graders. And students grades 2-5 also were able to learn at hands-on exhibits.

"The focus was on human anatomy, and the students learned a lot during the 40-minute assemblies, and they were able to visit the hands-on exhibits in groups of 2-3 classrooms," Dunn said.

The exhibits included examples of healthy and unhealthy livers and lungs. There were puzzles of different parts of the human body, such as models of the brain, the circulatory system and an entire model skeleton.

The students were able to see how their brains help them with balance and hand-eye coordination through a variety of activities, including a balance board and a balance beam.

"It was a very fun and educational day for Red Rock students and staff," Dunn said. "This was just one of the many examples of how our PTO has contributed to our schools."
