Sabrina Carpenter concert coming this August

KENNEWICK - Disney star Sabrina Carpenter will perform a special matinee concert at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Benton-Franklin Fair & Rodeo in Kennewick.

Tickets are on sale.

Carpenter had a clear command on what she intended to do with her life from a young age. She planned to sing on the public stage.

"We have video of me in my kitchen," she said. "I was so young and was singing 'God Bless America'."

Carpenter was too little to pronounce all of the words correctly, but she knew the performance felt right. Although she acts, too, music remains her first love.

Carpenter, 15, plays the rebellious Maya Hart on Disney Channel's "Girl Meets World", She will star in the upcoming Disney Channel original movie "Adventures in Babysitting".

Carpenter's passion is evident on her full-length debut album, "Eyes Wide Open". The Hollywood Records release is an upbeat collection of uplifting, infectious, well-crafted pop songs. Many of them are co-written by Carpenter, and all are delivered in her expressive, appealing soprano.
