DESERT AIRE - Two boys from Royal and one from Wahluke will play in the SCAC District Golf Tournament today after advancing from sub-district last week at DesGolf Course.

Two girls from Royal also made it to Districts. They competed at SunTides Golf Club in Yakima.

The top South County finisher was Collin Ahmann of Wahluke with 92. Josh Solis of Royal scored a 94, and Austin Walz made it with 98. Walz tied for 22nd, which was the cut for Districts.

The boys competition for the top spot was as close as could be. Derrick Phelps of Zillah edged Nick Baker of Cle Elum, 77-75. That finish could reverse today, with Districts being played at Cle Elum.

Other Royal boys scores were Nelson Ramirez, 99; Uriah Delay, 103, and Tyler Dorsing, 105. Carter Christensen withdrew after a front-9 44 that had him in good shape for advancing

Wahluke's second boys entry, Juan Lopez, did not qualify for Districts, but his 106 was his best score ever.

The two Royal girls who advanced to state were Lauren Pratt and Amanda Conger. They had scores of 108 and 129. No additional girls results were provided.

Today's tourney gets under way at 10 a.m. with Royal's Walz in the first group.

The Royal girls will play in the last two groups.
