Dave Graybill: The Fishin' Magician

Walleye fishing continues to provide excellent action for anglers on Potholes Reservoir and Moses Lake.

The Walleye Spring Classic held by Mar Don Resort on Potholes saw terrific results for tournament fishermen.

It took well over 40 pounds of walleye to win the event, and almost every participant limited both days.

The word is definitely out about the good fishing on Moses Lake. When I fished there recently there were 30 rigs in the parking lot at 7 a.m.

We saw people catching fish everywhere we went. Some of the anglers that started early were already culling their catches by mid morning.

Most impressive about the walleye fishing on Moses Lake is the size of the fish this year. I had a couple of anglers say that it was like the good old days when 18- to 20-inch fish were common here.

We had good success with Slow Death Hook rigs, spinners and especially the Macks Lure Spin Drift set-ups.

We tried a variety of colors and found that the gold Smile Blades were by far the most attractive to the walleye. It's going to be another banner year for walleye anglers on these two impoundments.
