Betty Jean Horn (née Elvin), 83, our kind and gracious mother was welcomed into Heaven on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, her loving family at her side. Betty is survived by her children, Juanita Schroeder of Moses Lake, Wash.; George Horn (Samantha) of Moses Lake, Wash.; Myron Horn (April) of Stratford, Wash.; Marjean Russell (Bruce) of Moses Lake, Wash.; Edward Horn (Rhonda) of Oldtown, Ida.; Thomas Horn of Moses Lake, Wash.; Douglas Horn of Moses Lake, Wash.; Amy Fettkether (Anthony) of Arlington, Iowa; her grandchildren Shawn, Tiata (Josh), Robby, Cassie, Debi, Logan (Jennifer), Leesa (Seth), Lynae, Lilly, Kayli, Ashley (Andy), Jodi (Lee), Levi, Kalleigh, Natalie, and Anthony; and her 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many dear friends; Marlon Brown (like a son to her), Paul Janssen, Jenny, Al, Cookie, Margaret, Irene, Pat, Dina, Marie and all her dear friends who are too numerous to list here. The memories she made with them all were of comfort in her final days. She loved her family and friends dearly and cherished every minute with them. She is preceded in death by her dear husband, George Horn, her cherished daughter, Deborah Brown and two daughters who died at their birth, her parents George and Hester Elvin, and a brother and a sister Anna and Bob.

Betty was born on June 12, 1931 in Wyoming to George and Hester Elvin. After the loss of her mother at the tender age of 3, she and her two siblings Anna and Robert were raised by their father with help from their grandmother, Georgia. After high school she enlisted in the United States Air Force. She married George Horn in May of 1957. Over the course of nearly 50 years of marriage, the two raised nine children and lived in Venice Beach, Calif., Euclid, Minn. and Moses Lake, Wash. where they retired and finished their journey together. Her surviving children remember her as a faithful, strong and wise woman as well as a kind and gentle mother who was steadfast in times of joy and sorrow. Her dedication to her family and friends never wavered. All those she knew, knew the love of the Father as she was called to love. With mother there was always a task she felt was undone. Dear mother there is nothing left undone. May you now rest in the peaceful arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Viewing will be held from 10 am to 12:45 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Kayser's Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m., Monday, May 18 at Kayser's Chapel. A mother is she who can take the place of all others, but whose place no one else can take.
