MATTAWA - The City of Mattawa is offering help with your spring clean-up this weekend, May 15-17, and it might just be a good idea to take advantage.

A code enforcement officer will pass trough the city afterward inspecting yards for garbage. City hall said tickets will be issued to those properties with garbage in accordance with the city municipal code. Fines can go as high as $950.

This is the one time of the year you won't have to go to the county drop-box to dispose of refuse. You can take it all to the City of Mattawa Shop site between 8 a.m and 5 p.m. each day.

But don't show up unless you have proof of residency. You must show a recent utility bill from the City of Mattawa.

The city shop site will accept your normal garbage and yard waste.

It will not accept appliances, tires, refrigerators or construction waste. Those may be taken to the salvage site at the end of Broadway.
