We are making progress

Over the years, I've made a few misjudgments and been wrong several times.

When I was eight, I misjudged a fly ball and took one in the face, breaking my glasses. When I was 15, I judged a book by its cover (which in my defense was Interview with the Vampire). When I was 33, I misjudged my age - and the size of a ski jump - crashing into rocks and receiving 15 stitches on my head. And when I was 41, I figured we would never get enough paid subscribers to keep The Royal Register publishing.

Again, I was wrong.

Just like the old days, effective June 1, 2015, The Royal Register will officially be a paid newspaper and will only be mailed to paid subscribers or purchased at the newsstand for 75 cents.

I'll be honest: this is super exciting.

With a paid circulation, The Royal Register will be able to something that very few newspapers are able to do - become adjudicated as a legal newspaper in Grant County.

Subscribers will continue to receive the same phenomenal weekly newspaper they've already been receiving. Those that don't subscribe will unfortunately miss out on their community's news.

And with your subscription you will receive 53 issues a year packed with all the great stuff happening in Royal City, Mattawa and Desert Aire - including a TV Guide!

With only four weeks remaining, my suggestion is comb the couches, raid the piggy bank or just reward yourself with an annual subscription to the best weekly newspaper in town.

If you're not familiar with the number to call to subscribe, here it is again - (509) 765-8882.

We're looking forward to your readership!
