Royal track girls 2nd, boys 3rd at Naches Invitational

ROYAL CITY - Maggie Delay won two times for the girls, and Joe Lang won three times for the boys last Friday to lead their respective teams to second and third place at the Naches Invitational Track Meet.

The meet included a record-shattering performance by the girls 1600-meter relay while finishing second. They toured the metric mile in 4:19.48. The old school record was 4:26.69.

The girls relay team also had a hot time in the 800 relay, winning that race in 1:52.98.

Lang, who is still determining the four events he will take on in the post-season, finished fifth in the 200 but won the long jump, triple jump and 110 hurdles.

Delay won the high hurdles and the long jump and finished fifth in the triple jump.

Kay Lester set personal records in the 1600 and 3200 and ran a leg on the school record-setting 1600-meter relay.
