Penny secured by gift from Invisible Fence
ROYAL CITY - There's no telling what Penny, the Vizsla pup had on her mind when she left her home in rural Royal City and traveled by truck to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania last year.
What she got out of the excursion was attention. She made national news and got a free airplane ride home. Now she's a spokesdog.
On Saturday, March 14, Penny received a gift fence from Invisible Fence. It was donated by Invisible Fencing Solutions in a dedication ceremony at her home with owners Colt and Kendra Brown.
"The systems will help keep the 9-month old Penny safe and close to home," Invisible Fencing's Claudia D'Avanzo.
On Dec. 19, Penny was picked up near the Royal Ridge by a truck driver who thought she was a stray. By the end of the trip, she had traveled 2,400 miles.
Someone had seen the truck stop for the dog, and the Brown's contacted the driver when he was in Nebraska. The driver dropped Penny off at the next animal clinic, in Pittsburgh, and staff there verified the dog's owners through an identity microchip under her skin.
The Browns were reunited with their beloved pet in January after she was flown home by Alaska Airlines free of charge.
According to D'Avanzo, team members at Invisible Fence® Brand's corporate office in Knoxville, Tenn., read about Penny's adventure and contacted the couple to offer pet fencing solutions to keep her safe.
On Saturday, March 14, representatives from Invisible Fence® Brand of Seattle completed installation on two, state-of-the-art systems at the Brown's 7,000-acre farm near Royal City.
Valued at more than $5,000, the donation includes a GPS 2.0 Ultimate Wire Free Pet Fence™, and a Boundary Plus® Fencing Solution. The GPS 2.0 Wire Free Pet Fence, considered one of the most advanced pet fence systems on the market, uses 32 navigational GPS satellites and is ideal for farms and other large areas as well as varied terrains.
Included with this gift is the brand's exclusive Perfect Start™ Plus Training. Developed in cooperation with leading animal behaviorists, the training uses the only scientifically sound, behaviorally-based training protocol available, and will safely and effectively introduce Penny to her new fencing solutions.
"Colt and I are so grateful to have Penny home with us due to the help of many generous individuals and organizations," Kendra Brown said. "We're also thankful to Invisible Fence for their kind donation and for helping to raise awareness of lost pets and solutions like identifiable microchips and other ways to keep them safer."
