ROYAL CITY - Jennifer Valentine was chosen Royal City's Distinguished Young Woman last Saturday night at the DYW presentation at the Red Rock Elementary School gym.

Valentine was chosen from among eight candidates who delighted a packed house with their talents, their fitness and their poise. She is the daughter of Jason and Bonnie Valentine.

"It was an amazing show," said Julirae Castleton, a Royal Festivals board member. "It was more than a packed house. There were people standing in the doorways."

"It was so much fun watching all of them," Castleton said. "They were amazing. It took the judges a long time to come back."

Chosen first finalist was Lucia Aguirre, daughter of Monico and Patricia Aguirre. The second finalist was Charity Robbins, daughter of Scott and Patricia Robbins.

As the DYW court, Valentine, Aguirre and Robbins will represent the community at local functions and at festivals, fairs and parades around the state.

In addition to DYW, Valentine won the Judges' Interview Award, the Scholastic Award and the Talent Award. Aguirre won the Fitness Award, and Robbins won the Self-Expression Award.

The Spirit of DYW Award went to Areisy Espino. Hannah Fanning got the Be Your Best Self Award.
