Genevieve May Underwood

Genevieve May Underwood, 87, longtime Soap Lake, Wash. resident, died Thursday, March 12, 2015 in Moses Lake Senior Living Community, where she has resided since September of 2012. Genevieve was born Oct. 10, 1927 in Valley, Wash. to Vera Hahn and Claude R. Remor.

She married Rufus I. Underwood on June 1, 1946. Together, they owned and operated businesses in Ephrata and Soap Lake. Genevieve was an avid photographer, taking many, many pictures of relatives, friends and others in her community; she owned and operated a photography/ceramic/floral shop for several years in Soap Lake. She enjoyed gardening as well as making ceramics. She was a member of the Garden Club, Adrian Grange and an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by 10 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and many friends, who will all miss her.

She was preceded in death by her husband Rufus I. Underwood and her two sons, Sam Underwood and Phillip Underwood.

Viewing will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015 with Funeral Services beginning at 10 a.m. in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1301 E. Division Ave., Ephrata, Wash. Burial and concluding services will immediately follow in Valley View Memorial Park, Soap Lake, Wash.
