Fresh News from MarDon
Spring weather comes and goes many times in Central Washington before we are lucky to have stable springtime weather. The first complete weekend in March looks to be beautiful with the sun shining and temperatures into the low 60's. If you are having a little cabin fever this will be a great weekend to get out and go for a drive or maybe do a little fishing. The seep lakes below O'Sullivan Dam can be a great place to spend a day, whether you are fishing, hiking or birdwatching just get outside and enjoy the fresh spring air. The Potholes Canal is officially open! This will create some good fishing activity in Soda Lake, Long Lake and Crescent Lake for early Rainbow Trout, Smallmouth Bass, and Walleye.
Speaking of Walleye now is the time for Walleye Anglers to hit Potholes Reservoir for some early March Madness. To locate walleye this time of year you need to start at the mouth of Crab Creek where it enters the main body of Potholes Reservoir. Look for the humps, shallow sand mountains below the surface, start there by putting your line in the water. Then try the mouth of Frenchman's Waste-way and the Lind Coulee arm of Potholes Reservoir. Fishing on a windy day is possible by launching at the M Street Boat Launch and fish the sheltered Lind Coulee Waters. This week the fish have been caught in 17' to 42' of water. As the water warms and the moon darkens our walleye bit will only improve. Our hard core anglers are also reporting perch with their walleye.
Call the MarDon Tackle Shop and talk to Rob or Kevin Friday, Saturday or Sunday for a fishing report, or swing by and say hi.
