More power at the park in time for SummerFest

| June 29, 2015 6:00 AM

ROYAL CITY - Improvements are being made to allow better access to electrical power in the Lions Parks, Public Works Director John Lasen told the Royal City Council at its meeting of June 2.

These improvements will be completed before the start of the annual Royal City SummerFest, he said. Lasen reported city well No. 1 is still not functioning even though the submersible pump will need to be pulled and assessed.

He said an additional quote came in at $28,000 for that work. The Council approved that bid.

Lasen said an additional $15,000 may be required to replace the pump if necessary.

It was reported to the Council that Catholic Charities was unsuccessful in its appeal for tax credits regarding a low-income housing project. It will therefore not happen in 2015.

The Mayor discussed correspondence from the Port of Royal Slope indicating a desire to meet with the City regarding the city website and the lease agreement for the welcome sign at the golf course.

The Council approved a consent agenda that includes Council meeting minutes from May 19 and a payroll in the amount of $39,223.22 for May 31 and claims for $30,940.68 for June 2.
