Rita M. Tipton

January 8, 1943 - June 4, 2015

Rita M. Tipton, 72, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015 with her family and fiancé by her side. Mother was born in Bangor, Maine January 8, 1943 to Vernon Leroy Doak and May Nora Swears.

Mother grew up in Waterbury, Conn., the youngest of four children. She met and married Verlon L. Childs and had three children from that union. After their divorce, mother met and married James W. Tipton and had one child. Mother and James remained married until James' death in October 2002. Mother was a store clerk at the Senior Center Thrift Store. She became family to the staff members and made many friends with the regular customers. Mother was a loving and caring person. If anyone needed her help she was always there. She was a very hard worker. Mother had a wonderful fiancé named Allen who would say, "She is my better half." Mother enjoyed dancing, watching movies, and listening to Country and Western music.

Mother is survived by her sister Dorothy Montalvo of Chicago, Illinois, son Steven L. Childs of Kansas City, Missouri, daughter Janet L. (Mark) Ames of Moses Lake, Wash., son Michael L. Childs of Spokane, Wash. and daughter Michelle S. Tipton (Wayne Austin) of Perry, Florida, 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother May, father Vernon, brother Leroy, sister Sharon and grandson William. Mother will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held in her honor at Moses Lake Senior Center, 608 E. Third Ave. on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 1:00 p.m.
