ROYAL CITY - Randy Miller, organizer of the Royal Schools chapter of the Washington Drug Free Youth program recently declared the first year a success.

The group celebrated just before the end of school with a banana split party funded by Royal Confluence Hospital board members and the Royal Parent-Teacher Organization.

The membership included 192 students from the high school and middle school. They started last fall with each student pledging to be drug free throughout the year.

"The banana splits were a great way to say thanks for being drug-free," Miller said. "We hope to expand the program next year to the new intermediate school and Red Rock Elementary with various age-appropriate anti-drug messages.

Miller is looking for added sponsorship for the program. If your business would like to support the cause next school, you may contact Miller at Royal High School.
