Dolores E. Morlan

Dolores E. Morlan, born Oct. 29, 1928, passed away on June 13, 2015 at Columbia Basin Hospital in Ephrata, Wash. Dolores was born in Wadena, Minn. as the only child to Charles and Agnes Repola. She was raised in New York Mills, Minn., where she graduated from high school. In 1949, she moved to Spokane, Wash. She worked at the Crescent Department store and lived with her grandmother and aunt. Dolores met and married Garth Ruckhaber on July 15, 1950, and had a daughter, Kim (Johnson; husband, Wayne). Garth passed away on May 10, 1956. Dolores met and married Earl Morlan on June 8, 1958. Two daughters were born to them, Lynn (Romig; husband, Rusty) and Sally (LaPlant; husband, Steve). Dolores worked as a bookkeeper over the years in Ephrata for the telephone company, Brad's Oil distributing, Lindsay Soft Water, and Safeway. She lost Earl in November 1996.

She also worked as a church secretary at the Ephrata First Presbyterian church during her early years in Ephrata, and later, served as Financial Secretary for Ephrata First Presbyterian church, and most recently, Community Church of Ephrata.

Dolores enjoyed traveling with all her girlfriends and relatives. She was always up for a social event, luncheons with the Red Hats, HCE, church socials, and playing pinochle with all the ladies. She traveled to Spain, Costa Rica, and throughout North America. She and Earl spent many happy vacations with their friends RV'ing, and with family on trips to the ocean and the mountains for camping and fishing. Dolores loved to read, play on her computer, watch movies, attend writing classes, and over the years she kept busy providing community service to the food bank, volunteering at schools, and was active in many church functions.

Dolores is survived by her three daughters and one stepson, Mike Morlan, along with grandchildren Russell Romig, Earl Romig, Tyler LaPlant, Nicole Shepherd, Carly Stratton, Angie Friedbauer, Boe Adolphsen, Shane Morlan, and Eric Morlan, Dolores had 5 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husbands, stepson, Cary Morlan, and many dear friends who have gone ahead to set up the card table.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the many visitors that flowed to her room each day, and to the attending nurses, CNAs and gentle caregivers.

A memorial service for Dolores will be held at Community Church of Ephrata, on Saturday, June 27, 2015, 11:00 a.m.
