Cody Sam De Trolio

| June 17, 2015 1:45 PM

June 30, 1997 - June 13, 2015

Cody was born in Moses Lake, Wash. to Eric and Kris De Trolio on June 30, 1997. He was their only child. The Lord called him home in the early morning hours of June 13, 2015 after a car accident.

He was named after his great-grandpa Sam Kasparek who was an old time cowboy from South Dakota. Cody grew up on a small farm between Moses Lake and Warden, Wash., where he and his parents raise hay, cattle and horses. Cody went to school in Warden where he just completed his junior year and also his first year of Running Start at Big Bend Community College.

Cody loved animals and had numerous pets. If you asked him if he had a favorite horse he would probably say he loved them all. He was a very active member of the O'Sullivan Stockman 4-H Club where he served in leadership and raised and showed steers. He was also a member of the Warden FFA serving on the leadership team as reporter, participating in raising and showing steers and being a straight shooter on the trap shooting team. Cody was a member of the Wintergrass Bluegrass Festival YATT and the Eastern Washington Junior Rodeo Association. On the rodeo circuit he tried his hand at several events and had found his place in the team roping and chute doggin' events. Junior rodeo was a big part of Cody's life; he and his family traveled all over the state participating.

One of the highlights of Cody's year was attending the Diamond J Cowboy Ministries Rodeo Camp each summer. He saved money throughout the year to help pay for camp and could hardly contain himself as it grew near.

Several years ago Cody took up the guitar and became very accomplished at it. He enjoyed jamming with friends and at family gathering playing alongside his Uncle Buck. Anyone who knew Cody knows he loved all kinds of music with few exceptions.

Cody looked forward to fall and deer hunting season with his dad and maybe a family friend or two. Bagging a deer wasn't near as important to Cody as the time he got to spend with his dad. He also enjoyed fishing with his dad and occasionally with his uncle and grandpa.

People were important to him and he loved family and friends, but no one was more important to him than his dad and mom. He was a beautiful soul and everyone he touched is better for knowing him. Cody was a cowboy through and through. He will be painfully missed and joyfully remembered as the tender-hearted bear-hugging cowboy.

Cody was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Carolyn Lawson and Audrey Ginter and his great-grandparents, Sam and Viola Kasparek and Charles and Lucille Francis.

He is survived by: his parents, Eric and Kris De Trolio; his grandparents, Frank Sr/Charlene De Trolio, Curly/Tex Francis, Ed Ginter/Melinda Lyles and Vern/Jo Ann Hesslink; his uncles/aunts, Buck/Tovi Naff, David De Trolio, Mike/Kim De Trolio, Frank De Trolio Jr/Chris Beck, and Shelly De Trolio/Murray Murphy; and several cousins, Tomi, Kasi, Dustin, Adilyn, Michael, Briana, Xaiden, Kade, Jared, Esther, Beckam, Wyatt, Ethan, Morgan, Justin, Jocelan, Dakota, Dylan, Keicia, Angalee, Rodolfo, Shay, Ayva, Cameron, Makenzie, Justin, Jaxson, Bella, Braydn, Bree, Aimee, Joseph, and Lindsey.

A viewing will be Thursday, June 18, 2015, from 2:00-7:00pm at Kayser's Chapel of Memories. A Celebration of Cody's life will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2015, at the Warden High School gym. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family invites everyone back to Warden High School cafeteria for a reception. Food items welcome.
