| June 14, 2015 6:00 AM

ROYAL CITY - Mayor Kent Andersen met with property owners who will be affected by the upcoming street paving project to relay an offer of paving up to their driveways.

Central Washington Asphalt will offer the extra paving at $15 per square yard. For those who pave more than 50 yards, the price will be $12 per yard.

Property owners will make their own deals with the pavers. They will not go through the city.

According to City Finance Director Greg Pike, the paving project may start as early as this week.

In other news involving the mayor, Andersen said there will be a meeting to discuss rising irrigation water rates at the Royal Golf Course. It looks as if the golf course will have to pay commercial rates starting next year.

Public Works Director John Lasen reported that the City Well No. 1 submersible pump will need to be pulled and assessed. The best quote for doing the work came in at $33,000.
