ROYAL CITY - A fabulous recreational and educational week is in store for youngsters who attend the Mega Sports Camp next week at the Royal Middle School campus.

The camp is directed by Royal teacher and coach Ben Orth. He can be reached at 346-1440.

Registration forms for the Mega Sports Camp are available at the elementary and middle schools as well as Harvest Foods in Royal City. It is also printed on page 16 of this issue of The Royal Register.

Mega Sports Camp is five days of recreational activity for boys and girls ages 5-12. It will be held from June 8-12 at Royal Middle School from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

"This is a great opportunity for kids," Orth said. "Each day is action-packed and, throughout the week, campers will get to experience 10 different sports."

Parents, if you are looking for a healthy, exciting, and supportive week of instruction and encouragement for your child or grandchild, this is it. According to Orth, the emphasis at Mega Sports Camp is to provide students a platform to learn the fundamentals of a wide variety of sports.

"We try hard to couple skill development with a lot of fun activities," he said.

The schedule at Mega Sports Camp is a dream for kids who like to be active. Monday will feature basketball and soccer, Tuesday will have football, volleyball, baseball, and softball, Wednesday will see track and field and ultimate capture the flag, and Thursday will introduce gymnastics, wrestling, and dance.

The camp will conclude on Friday with the Mega Sports Camp Olympics, Wacky Water Game Day and an Awards Ceremony.

"In addition to the success student's gain from improving their athletic skills, we also want them to make strides in sportsmanship, work ethic, and confidence," Orth said. "Those are important goals during camp."

The cost for the entire week of camp instruction, competition and snacks every day, plus a camp T-shirt is $45.

Orth wants all of the youths possible to participate. Any family in need of financial assistance to send a child is encouraged to call Orth at 346-1440.
