ROYAL CITY - The seven teams that played in the Royal City SummerFest Glowball Golf Tournament Saturday night were somewhat blind, but they scored well just the same, navigating through glowstick-lined fairways and firing at LED-lit flags.

The winning team included the Renfroes from Bremerton. Doris Renfroe was a Royal High graduate. She and her husband Eddie camped at the golf course.

The other two members of the Renfroe team were golf course superintendent Shawn Vetterick and his wife Athena Shotwell.

"We were called into action to complete the Renfroe team," Shawn said.

The Vetterick-Renfroe team toured the nine holes with a 2-under par 34.

Second place went to the Cuevas, Thompson and Mendoza team. Those fellows put together an even par round of 36.

"It was a lot of fun," Shawn said. "Everybody had a great time."

Longest drive contest went to Riley Christensen and longest putt went to Shawn Vetterick.

The tournament got under way at 9 p.m., but the evening started at 7:30 with a potluck dinner. Classical acoustical guitarists Slag Callahan and Gavin Rose entertained.
