| July 8, 2015 1:45 PM

May 11, 1927 - July 4, 2015

James Harold Marlatt was born in Boise, Idaho on May 11, 1927 to James and Leonia (March) Marlatt. J. "Harold" Marlatt passed away quietly July 4, 2015. He is survived by his cherished wife of more than 65 years, Lois Lightfoot Marlatt, two brothers Paul and Harry Marlatt of Boise, Idaho, and five children, Connie Bacon, Steven Marlatt, Robert Marlatt, Jerry Marlatt and Carol Jones, 26 grandchildren and 54 great-grandchildren.

Harold lived an honorable and adventurous life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Military, where he served in the U.S. Army as a cryptographic technologist during World War II. Following his military service, Harold played semi-professional baseball. Harold did many things to support his family; he owned his own mechanics shop for many years and people in the Moses Lake area got to know Harold as an excellent mechanic and honest businessman. Harold also did forestry work and many other business ventures to ensure his family had a good living.

Harold was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully as Executive Secretary or Stake Clerk to six Stake presidents and served an honorable Full-time mission in Texas with his wife Lois. He also served as a temple worker for many years in the Seattle and Boise Temples. He was known as a man of character and integrity by all who knew him. He enjoyed life, he created metal art through his welding - making many wonderful statues; he loved the fiddle, playing it every chance he could. He loved the old-time music, dances and helping people being happy. Harold was truly "the salt of the earth". He will be missed dearly by his loving family and by all who came to know him.
