ROYAL CITY - The 16th annual Bob Nielsen Royal Knights Golf Tournament was won by the team of Jeremy and Kyle Scroggins and Patrick Mitchel and Ken Christensen and football player Jose Ponce.

Saturday, June 13, was a fun-filled day with a 4-man scramble and special competitions such as the marshmallow long drive. Each team was complimented by one football player, putting 80 players on a course that comfortably holds 44.

The football players were auctioned off to each of the scramble teams. Some went for as high as $450, $350 and $250. According to football coach Wiley Allred, the fundraiser usually takes in the amount of money needed to fund about half of the team cost to attend the Eastern Washington University camp.

Awards were given for the top four teams and last place. Among the prizes were a $500 gift certificate from Royal City Les Schwab, two $100 gift certificates from Royal City Harvest Foods and six Mariners tickets from Key Bank Moses Lake.

The prizes also included a golf outing for four at Moses Pointe from CPC Fruit, a golf outing for four to Moses Lake Golf Club from ACX International, two drivers from Chris Carrow, four WSU vs Oregon State football tickets from Sam and Shelli Worsham, and four Royal Knight Football jackets from Mrs. Coach.

The second place team was Saddle Mt Supply Co.

In the putting contest, first place went to Marc Smith, and second place went to Stuart Barger

Longest drive contest was won by Jeremy Scroggins, and Wade Walter finished second.

Jason Gilbert was the marshmallow longest drive winner. The longest putt went to Shawn Vetterick

Peter Christensen, coach of the RHS golf team, won the 50/50 cash prize closest-to-the-pin contest.

Warren Small cooked up some great pork and chicken for the tournament luncheon, and Weinstein Beverage donated the beverages. For a list of all hole sponsors and donors check out Royal Knights Football on Facebook.
