Helen (Thompson) Herring

Helen Violet (Thompson) Herring, 87 years old of Quincy, passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2015. She was born on February 15, 1925 in Roff, OK, to Herbert Francis and Rosa Belle (Whisenhunt) Thompson. On August 15, 1944 she married Walter Lee Herring in Roswell, NM. In 1966, Helen and her family moved to Washington State. For many years, Helen was a homemaker and raised 6 children. After moving to Quincy, she worked 20 years at Lamb-Weston.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Sandra (Herring) Bradley of Quincy, two brothers, three sisters, and one grandchild.

She is survived by two daughters: Janice Gimlin and Linda Herring (Jack Heerman) both of Curlew; three sons: Joseph Herring of Quincy, Dan (Robin) Herring of Moses Lake, Lee (Sheila) Herring of Stratford; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Helen was an avid gardener and had many beautiful flowers surrounding her home in Quincy. She was greatly loved by her family and will be missed by all who knew her.

A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Scharbach's Columbia Funeral Chapel, Quincy, WA. Concluding services will follow in the Quincy Valley Cemetery.
