ROYAL CITY - A tough high school basketball season continued for the Royal girls last week. They were dispatched by Cle Elum, 54-34, and River View, 53-19.

Royal started slow in both games. The Knights trailed Cle Elum, 18-6, after one quarter and River View, 15-0, after one period.

"We really need to put together a full 32 minutes, and we will be right in the game." coach Phil Daubel said. Thirty turnovers against Cle Elum hurt. Field goal success was only 15 percent against River View.

"Tough to be competitive and win games at that rate," Daubel said.

A bright spot against Cle Elum was the 21 points of Flor Araujo. Sophia Rodriguez added five. Staci Hebdon had five rebounds, and Jennifer Ledezma had four. Araujo had two steals, Hebdon two assists.

Araujo led in the River View game with five points. Ledezma and Guadalupe Guadarrama had three each. Hebdon had seven rebounds and Ledezma six. Araujo had seven steals, Guadarrama had four, and Jacky Guadarrama made three assists.
