Eilene E. (Gallagher) Ehr

Eilene E. (Gallagher) Ehr, longtime Moses Lake resident, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 in Moses Lake, Washington. Eilene was born October 10, 1930 in Tabor, Iowa to Richard and Mary (Brannen) Gallagher. She was one of eight children. As a young girl, Eilene moved with her family to various parts of the United States while her father worked in construction.
She graduated from Ritzville High School in 1948 and moved to Moses Lake in 1949. She married Albert "Skeet" Ehr on April 14, 1950. They raised 5 children in Moses Lake, Dianne, Duane, Ron, Greg and Teresa. Eilene worked as a dental assistant to Dr. William Seargant for many years. She also worked for the Grant County Election Board, TABS Answering Service, FEMA, and most recently, the Moses Lake Senior Center.
As well as being a homemaker, she was an accomplished seamstress, quilter and gardener. She was an avid reader and enjoyed canning, most notably, her famous pickles.
In 1993, she was able to travel to Ireland with her sisters, Mary and Peggy and daughter Dianne. Eilene was fiercely proud of her Irish heritage and enjoyed the many Gallagher reunions that were held each year.
Eilene became "Grandma Eilene" in 1972 when her first grandchild was born. She loved her grandchildren immensely and was honored to become a Great Grandmother in 2004.
Eilene is survived by her five children and their spouses, Dianne (Jim) Espenson, Duane (Vicki) Ehr, Ron (Diane)Ehr, Greg Ehr (Michelle) and Teresa (Ted) Gitner; grandchildren, Amy (Dan) Norton, Stacie (Brian) Reid, Jason (Pam) Ehr, Ryan Espenson (Greta Greve), Jon (Whitnei) Ehr, Elliot Ehr, Ethan Ehr and Erin (Justin) Nachtweih, great grandchildren, Isaac, Addyson, Dawson, Liam, Mariah, Luke, Kaleb, Josh, Emmie, Melody, Kaleb, Koda, Danny and Lauren. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Johns and Peggy (Homer) Evans, brother John Gallagher, sister-in-laws, Bobbie Gallagher, Arlene Gallagher-Butler, Kathy Gallagher, Betty Ehr, Beverly Delano and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert "Skeet" Ehr, her parents, Richard and Mary, sister, Helen and brothers, Richard, Pat and Chuck Gallagher.
Services will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Moses Lake on Tuesday, January 20. Holy Rosary will be prayed at 1:00 p.m. Funeral mass will begin at 1:30 p.m. A reception will follow in the Fatima Hall. Eilene will be inurned at Pioneer Memorial Gardens at a later date. Eilene was cherished by all who knew and loved her and will be greatly missed.
