MATTAWA - According to Wahluke Junior High School Assistant Principal Sean Langdon, more than 3.2 million students are victims of bullying each year.

And each year, staff and students at WJH attempt to put and end to the problem. This year, October was national bullying awareness and prevention month.

WJH had a school-wide assembly and had positive activities throughout the month to improve the school's climate and show youngsters the importance of taking a stand.

One of those activities was students competing in a bullying essay/poem contest. The winners were determined just before the Christmas break.

They were: Jorge Rangel (6th grade), Alazay Fayard (6th grade), Adilene Sandoval (8th grade), Martin Martinez (8th grade), Jennifer Nazario (7th grade) and Mark Magdaleno (7th grade).
