April 11, 1930 - January 2, 2015

Jane Bohnet, 84, a long-time resident of Ephrata, passed away at the Columbia Basin Hospital on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015. She was born on April 11, 1930 to teachers Donald H. and Ethel C. Reed in Tacoma.

She grew up in Baker City, Ore., and after graduating from high school attended Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Spokane, where she graduated with a registered nursing degree in 1951. While attending nursing school she met her future husband, Don Bohnet. They married in June 1952 in Baker City, Ore. In 1959 they moved to Ephrata where they raised their family. She thoroughly enjoyed the nursing profession and the ability to help others. She began working at the Ephrata Columbia Basin Hospital in 1959, eventually becoming Director of Nurses after spending many years supervising the hospital's North Wing. She retired from nursing after thirty-some years, yet continued to work part-time at the hospital, as needed.

Jane was an avid reader and life-long learner. Her favorite past-times were fishing and golf at various lakes and golf courses throughout the Columbia Basin, yet it was her husband and family that were her greatest love.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents and twin sons Allen and Bruce Bohnet. She is survived by her husband, Don Bohnet, of Ephrata and their children Susan Anderson (Puyallup), Terry Wagoner (Pullman), Nancy Lira (Pullman), Stewart Bohnet (Pullman), Mark Bohnet (Walla Walla), as well as her brother James Reed of Ocean Park, eleven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

A public viewing will be held Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. followed by a 1 p.m. Memorial Service at Nicoles Funeral Home of Ephrata. Interment will follow at the Ephrata Cemetery. Following the internment, a private reception for immediate family members will be held at the family residence.
