Quincy-area fire district receives good audit

OLYMPIA - Grant County Fire District No. 3, serving the Quincy area, received a good report for the years 2011, 2012 and 2013 from Washington State Auditor Troy Kelley.
The State Auditor's Office accountability audit report was released Dec. 29.
The independent audits give valuable information to district management, governing bodies and public stakeholders, according to the auditor's office.
The most recent audit report for District No. 3 took into account information from Jan. 1, 2011, through December 31, 2013.
The audit obtained information about District No. 3's use of public resources, compliance with state laws and regulations, the District's own policies and procedures and internal controls over the latter areas.
According to the auditor's office, the report did not take into account every transaction; rather, it researched areas with the highest possibility of fraud, loss, abuse or non-compliance.
The audit examines the district's financial condition, small and attractive (theft-sensitive) assets, vehicle and fuel use, and the association fire truck.
District No. 3 was established in 1942 and provides fire prevention and emergency services to Quincy and George residents, with seven stations covering about 500 square miles in Grant County.
