1927-2014

Julia Elizabeth (Davis) Burman was born to Ernest William and Ellen Hawkins Davis on April 22, 1927 in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. She grew up in a log cabin her father remodeled in Naples, Idaho, where she attended grade school. After her father's death, she attended various one-room-schools around Northern Idaho where her mother taught, finally settling briefly and graduating from Bozeman High School in Montana.

After graduation, Julia enrolled at Whitworth College in Spokane. She continued on to Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, graduating as an RN in 1950.

Julia met William C. (Bill) Burman while she was a student at Deaconess. They were married in Baltimore, MD, on December 30, 1950, before Bill shipped out to the Korean War. After his return they lived in Spokane where their three children were born. They moved to Moses Lake in 1962.

Julia worked at Crestview Nursing Home for 25 years. Her love and compassion were evident in the care she gave her patients. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, collecting rocks, and after retirement, traveling with Bill across the United States in their motor home.

Julia is survived by her children; William F. (Gail) Burman, Kathy Voth, and Marla (Tom) Ellestad; grandchildren, Kimberly, Lisa, Heather, Glen, Mark (Alicia), Elizabeth, Miriam, Benjamin, Joshua; great granddaughter, Honor; and her special heart sister, Evelyn Ellestad. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill.

Julia loved her family and will be greatly missed.

Burial was on Saturday, December 27, 2014 in Grandview Cemetery, Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Julia's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 2015 in Living Word Lutheran Church, 2609 W. Broadway Ave., Moses Lake, WA with Rev. Lou Hesse officiating.
