Iconic Judy's to return

ROYAL CITY - Judy's Great Food, which was a landmark restaurant along Highway 26 about three miles west of town, will return in the near future.

"We will refurbish the iconic Judy's sign and bring it back to life," owner Larry Myrick said.

Judy's operated under two different owners. In 2013 it became Deli-sh Cafe under the management of Susie Littlewood. The owner of the building during this time has been Myrick.

When lease discussions came up late last year and early this year, Myrick and Littlewood ended their association, and Myrick announced he would remodel the building and return the old Judy's.

The remodeling project will give the exterior a cleaner look and the interior a spacier look. Executive chef Eric Myrick, Larry Myrick's nephew, will take over management, but Larry will own the business.

"We're going to have an open concept kitchen," Eric said. "We haven't developed the menu yet. We're working on it."

Eric Myrick hopes Judy's will be able to re-open by mid-February, but all that the Myricks know for sure is that it will open soon.

Except for the new look, Judy's Great Food will be about the same as the original Judy's. There will be fruit and produce sales. The wine tasting room Larry Myrick added will continue to promote Frenchman Hill Wines.

Larry Myrick will be the owner of the entire operation.
