SCHAWANA - Nobody was injured in a drive-by shooting in Schawana the night of Feb. 2, but there was damage to a car, and authorities are looking for suspect vehicle.

According to Grant County Sheriff's deputies, witnesses heard four gunshots and then saw a white Dodge lifted 4X4 pickup with dark tinted windows leave the scene.

Deputies were called to 18343 Third Avenue Southwest for shots fired at around 10 p.m. Deputies found bullet damage to a car parked at the home.

The home's occupants, who are believed to be the targets of the shooters, were uncooperative with deputies, Sheriff Tom Jones said.

Jones said deputies and Mattawa Police searched the area but did not find the pickup.

Mattawa Police Chief John Turley has made inquiries with key people in Schawana to keep abreast of the incident. If the shooting was gang-related, the problem could spill over to Mattawa.

"But I don't think it was gang-related," he said. "I think it was a one-on-one problem. Gang shootings usually have a revenge shooting. This one didn't."
