GEORGE - George Washington would be 283 years of age if he were still around, and the residents of George believe he would probably want to spend his birthday in the little town named in his honor.

George, Washington likes to celebrate, according to community leader Debby Kooy, and what better reason is there than the birthday of the "father of our country?"

George Washington's birthday will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 21. There will be a complimentary community dinner at 5 p.m. at the George Community Hall, 403 W. Montmorency in George.

There will be updates of happenings at the Hall and plans for the future. The GCH Board of Directors will be present.

"And you will be treated to a delicious soup supper served up by the George, Washington Georgettes." Kooy said.

But that's not all.

At 7 p.m., the action will move upstairs for a CoffeeHouse Concert by Hank Cramer, the West's most beloved folk musician/historian, according to Kooy.

Cramer plans to feature songs of the American Revolution, music that would have been familiar and dear to George Washington himself.

In between Cramer's two sets of "edutainment," there will be birthday cake served by the Georgettes.

"This event takes the place of our usual Presidents' Day celebration, but we think it is going to be a lot more fun," Kooy said.
