ROYAL CITY - The latest promotion at Royal City Harvest Foods could mean a bountiful harvest of merchandise for 24 of the players.

Customer Cash pays off in cash to all winners of $20 or less. It pays in gift certificates for winners of $50 or more. There is a potential of 24 winners of $50 or more.

According to Leslie Fanning, part of the ownership, the promotion will last through April 21. Like all promotions, it is designed to bring new business to the store.

But shopping is not necessary to play. You can pick up a card, and the card will be punched in the 13-number rear bottom section at each visit until fully punched. You are limited to one punch per week.

Shopping will get you there faster. Shoppers get punches on the right rear of the card in accordance with the amounts they purchase.

Customer Cash is played with cards that also have a sealed scratch section, like a lottery scratch ticket. That is where the prize amount is printed.

When the card is fully punched, the store manager will remove the scratch seal to reveal the prize amount.

"If you scratch off the seal yourself, the card becomes void," Fanning said. "Please don't take off the seal yourself."

A few customers have done that, and those cards have been placed on the wall of shame.

However, the wall of fame has a $100 winner and a $20 winner. There is a $10 winner, a $5 winner and several $1 winners. The promotion started on Jan. 21.

The odds of winning are posted on the backside of the cards. But all cards are winners of at least $1. The game includes two $1,000 gift certificates, two $500 gift certificates, ten $100 gift certificates and ten $50 gift certificates.

"Some people get excited winning just one dollar," Fanning said.
