Cecil Melvina Pratt

Cecil Melvina Pratt, born June 13, 1918, in Avon, South Dakota, passed away peacefully January 31 2015 at her daughter's home in Ephrata, Washington. Cecil married Marion Dirks in August 1940. They had five children. They farmed in Roberts County, South Dakota. Marion died in October 1956 in a tragic farming accident. In June 1961 Cecil married Wilferd Pratt and moved to Prosser, Washington. They moved to Goldendale, Washington in 1972, where they lived for 24 years, then relocated to Moses Lake in 1994 to be closer to family.

Cecil was no stranger to hard work and was always willing and ready to serve. She gave her heart to the Lord early in life and remained faithful to the end. Cecil loved getting together with family and friends and had a meek and quiet spirit. She enjoyed cooking, gardening (especially her roses) and crocheting. She will be greatly missed.

Cecil was preceded in death by her husband, Wilferd, her parents, 2 sisters Defon Wood and Ada Ellis, 2 brothers Ralph Luke and Robert Hansen, grandson, Brian Dirks, and great-grandson, Kelly Youngers. She is survived by her sister Arlene Dirks (Iowa), brother Arlo Hansen (Nebraska), daughter Nancy Stokes (Steve) Ephrata, son Bob Dirks (Bonnie) Moses Lake, daughters Bonnie Lynn Dirks, Moses Lake, Shirley Aarestad (Mike) Bismarck, ND, and Lorna Jarrell (Jeff), Moses Lake, 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be February 5, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at the Kayser's Chapel, Moses Lake. Visitation will be February 5th from 11 am to 1:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Guarding Angels Cemetery, 2595 Road L NE, Moses Lake.
