January 21, 1948 – December 23, 2015

Linda Kay Schwab, 67, cherished sister, mother, grandmother and friend ascended peacefully into heaven on Dec. 23, 2015 at Central Washington hospital with family members by her side.

Funeral services will be held in her honor at noon on Thursday, Dec. 31 at Kayser’s Chapel of Memories in Moses Lake. Interment will follow at Pioneer Memorial Gardens. Family and friends may visit funeral home that same day from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Linda was born on Jan. 21, 1948 in Ephrata, Wash. to parents Melvin and Evelyn (White) Schwab. Linda attended Moses Lake schools all 12 years and earned her associate degree from Big Bend Community College. She married Brent Marshall of Warden and after being discharged from the Army, the couple settled in there to start a family. In 1974, Linda moved to Las Vegas where she worked as a contract, bonds and insurance agent for more than 31 years. She also earned many Barrel-Racing and Gymkhana trophies on the weekends. She returned to her childhood home 10 years ago and lived her final years making memories with family, friends, children and grandchildren.

As a youngster, Linda enjoyed a wonderful childhood playing softball and outdoor games with her three brothers, parents and cousins. Her first love was a horse, and she began riding at the age of 4. As a 4-H member she entered a horse, sewing, craft and cooking project every year at the county fair. She was also in a saddle club and the school marching band and enjoyed playing piano.

Her children and those who knew her would tell you that she was a hard worker, determined and fun. She shared her passion for horses with her grandchildren and anyone wanting to learn to ride. She was a gifted seamstress and would sew, knit or crochet gifts every year. Though she was “crafty” and organized and a meticulous record keeper, she thought of herself as a simple, ordinary “tomboy” who craved the outdoors and being with loved ones.

Linda was preceded in death by parents Melvin and Evelyn Schwab, a brother Melvin Douglas and ex-husband Brent Marshall. Survivors include brothers Larry (Betty) of Moses Lake and Randy (Bonnie) of Fairfield, Idaho. Other survivors include daughters Shannon (Clint) Pierce of Portland Ore. and Sherry Marshall of Warden, and son Shane (Bobbie) Marshall of Moses Lake. Linda was also survived by 8 grandchildren, three of whom are “adopted through love.”
