Walleye anglers are not fishing much this past week with colder weather and heavy evening rains. However, we have had walleye to six pounds (24 inches) reported from the Lind Coulee arm of Potholes Reservoir. Walleye fishers that operate their electronic correctly have reported the blade bait pattern is totally on. As you look at the screen on your GPS fish finder and see an underwater mountain or hump, a simple change in depth (called a break-line) or a small piece of structure with a Christmas-tree-shaped accumulation of fish you have found a “Blade Bait Fisher’s Dream.” For many weeks now these pre-spawn 16-to-20-inch males are gorging on bait fish in preparation for this spring. This “Blade Bait Bite” has been lasting into March the last three years.
