Saxon Fleming

February 21, 1930 – December 4, 2015

Saxon Fleming, 85 years old, of Royal City, Wash., passed away Dec. 4, 2015 at his vacation home in Yuma, Arizona. He was born Feb. 21, 1930 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Sunnyside, Wash. where he married Arlene Allen on Nov. 8, 1950. They recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with take-out from Jack in The Box. They soon moved to the Columbia Basin in Washington where they started farming in 1954 and moved to Royal City in 1961.

Sax received the Farmer of the Year Award. He was active with the volunteer fire department, school board, Federal Land Bank, Washington State Cattle Feeders Association, Moose Lodge, Royal City Golf Course, 4H, a private pilot and of course coffee every morning at Spuds!

Sax designed, built and enjoyed driving the “Sax Mobile” with his grandchildren and great grandchildren in tow annually in the Royal City Parade for many years. He was Grand Marshal and received the Grand Marshal and Mayors Award.

Sax is survived by his loving wife Arlene; sister Phyllis; three children, Jerri, Dan (Cindy) and Gary (Joan); eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren (with two more on the way) and four nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at The Church of the Nazarene Thursday, Dec. 17.
