Rex Layne Wallschlaeger

Rex Wallschlaeger was born July 10, 1956 to Robert and Betty Wallschlaeger in Seattle, Washington. He joined brothers Steve, Larry and Mark. When he was about 4 years old, the family moved to Ephrata, where his father took over Karl’s Kabinet Shop, renaming it Wally’s Cabinet Shop. When Rex was 7 years old, his sister Tracy joined the family. After graduating from Ephrata High School, he worked for Les Schwab Tires in Moses Lake. He married Deb Groh in 1988 and in 1991 they opened their own tire store. They named it “Tire Sorus Rex” the dinosaur of tires. Rex liked to tinker with old cars, ride motorcycles, go camping and enjoyed the outdoors.

Rex died Friday, November 27, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Deb, Tri-Cities; mother Betty, Ephrata; brothers Steve (Fenner), Honolulu, Hawaii, Larry (Mary, nephews Christopher, Tyson), Washougal, Wash., Mark (Ann), Moses Lake and sister Tracy, Seattle. He also leaves behind good friend Clancy, Moses Lake, and his beloved dog Lola. He will be missed by his family and friends.
