Dave Graybill: The Fishin' Magician
If you are looking for a place to catch a bunch of fish, Banks Lake would be a good choice right now.
The walleye bite is the best that I have ever experience there, and I have had two great trips to the big lake recently.
My daughter was visiting and we always got to Banks to fish for smallmouth bass, but this time we tried for walleye.
Her first fish ever was a 26-inch monster. She also got a 24-inch walleye. We were busy the whole time we were on the water. If we weren't hooking walleye we were getting some very nice smallmouth bass.
I was fishing Shad Raps and Frenzy lures that dive to 12 feet, so I tried to keep the boat in 15 feet of water.
I was fishing off the mid way boat ramp. This ramp is very shallow and has a lot of mosquitoes.
I would suggest that you run down from Northrup. I would start fishing just below Rosebush.
Most of the fish are 13 to 14 inches, but you never know when a bigger one will hit your plug. I took my wife a couple of days later and we had terrific fishing in this area, again.
