Mikel 'Mike' Arlan Menti
April 11, 1946 - August 18, 2015
Mikel "Mike" Arlan Menti, 69, of Bellevue, Wash., passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015 after a three-year courageous battle with cancer. Mike was born in Ellensburg, Wash. on April 11, 1946. He moved with his family to Moses Lake, Wash. in 1952 and graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1964. He attended college at Washington State University where he was a proud member of the Cougars football team and Sigma Nu fraternity. After college he was in the United States Army stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War. Following the war he moved back to Moses Lake where he ran a successful jewelry business, Menti Jewelers, until 1989. He was a past president of Moses Lake Golf and Country Club and the Moses Lake Chamber of Commerce, on the board of the Washington Jewelers Association and the Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge #1930. While living in Moses Lake he married Sheila North and they had one daughter, Marlo Menti.
In 1989 he moved to the Seattle area where he began his second career in the moving and storage industry. He worked with many moving companies including Air Van Moving and Rainier Moving Systems before entering into a partnership to start Moving Link, where he was Vice President. Mike was also a past president of the Newcastle, Wash. Rotary Club. Mike married the love of his life, Kathy Abroe on Oct. 28, 1994. They were married 20 years and had one daughter, Elizabeth Menti.
Mike loved to play golf and travel to Hawaii. He was an avid sports fan and loved his Cougars, Huskies, Mariners and Seahawks. His greatest passion were his friends and family - he never met a stranger.
Mike is survived by his loving wife Kathy Menti; his daughters Marlo Menti Rowe (Scott) and Elizabeth Menti; step-daughters Marie Gooding (Kevin) and Wendy Cox (Rob) and grandchildren Olivia Higgins, BJ and Kaitlin Pray, Kyra and Caleb Cox, Leighton, Ashleigh and Naomi Gooding; brother Rick Menti (Patti) and sister Sonja Menti Petty (Dave), and many more family and friends.
Mike is preceded in death by his father Huck Menti, his mother Torb Menti and sister Leilani Miller.
The family of Mike Menti wishes to thank all the tireless staff at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and UW Medicine for the exceptional care. Memorial donations may be given to these organizations or any charity helping those in need.
Family and friends will celebrate Mike's life at Glendale Country Club, 13440 Main Street, Bellevue, Wash. on Tuesday, Aug. 25 from 1 to 3 p.m.
