Jimmy M Reavis
July 16, 1934 - July 31, 2015
Jimmy Reavis passed away peacefully, Friday July 31 from complications related to COPD.
He was born in Ardmore, Okla. to Chester and MaryLou Reavis. The second son of "Chuck" and "Mamma Lou" grew up playing sports, hunting and fishing with family and friends and enjoying life. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma and was a die-hard "Sooners" fan. He was an avid hunter and fisherman as long as anyone can remember. He served his country during the Korean War.
He married Audrey Shryack in September of 1964, adopted her two children, Pamela and Robert , and they had two children of their own, Kevin And Louan. Shortly after getting married they moved to Alaska where he worked as a CPA and furthered his love of hunting and fishing. He then joined the U.S. Government as an IRS agent where he spent the rest of his career.
The family moved to Walla Walla, Wash. for a few years and then to Spokane, where the family spent 14 years in Otis Orchards. He was a regular feature in the bleachers of a myriad of football, softball, basketball and baseball games from 1977 until 1986, always there to give a thumbs-up to his kids on the field or on the court. He was active in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, and always willing to haul a pack of kids all over the valley for summer games. He was the kind of person who was always willing to pitch in and help out. Not afraid to work hard, he maintained several large gardens and a small acreage in Otis with cows, pigs, chickens and other farm life.
He finished his career with the IRS in Seattle and then retired to the Potholes Reservoir near Moses Lake in 1988. He enjoyed fishing for bass, crappie and walleyes, as well the company of good friends in the Highland Estates. Due to health complications he was forced to move to Clarkston and Evergreen Court, for the final two years of his life to be closer to daughter Louan.
He was preceded in death by his wife Audrey who died in 2003 and he is survived by his brother Chuck Reavis of Texas, two nephews, four children Pam Schulz of Hermiston, Robert Reavis of Newman Lake, Kevin Reavis of Tacoma, Louan Reavis of Asotin, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family would like to thank his friends and neighbors in Moses Lake and Otis Orchards for their love and support as well as the nurses, health care and social workers and other staff at Evergreen Court and Prestige Skilled Nursing in Clarkston for the care they provided for Jimmy in his final months. As in life, not wanting to be in the spotlight, so he is in death, wishing to pass quietly. The family is honoring his request that no service be held. May he rest in peace in the arms of our Lord and Savior.
