Apple Foundation awards scholarships
WENATCHEE - Grant County students were among 225 graduating high school seniors and college students to receive scholarships from the Washington Apple Education Foundation. The WAEF is the charitable foundation of the Washington Apple Commission.
Quincy 2015 graduate Cade Wallace received the $2,000 Joe Bulleri Memorial scholarship, one of four Quincy alumni to receive scholarships. Jackelyn Hildago, class of 2012, received the $3,000 John Douglas scholarship. A $1,500 scholarship award from the Jones Charitable Trust went to Luis Perez, class of 2014. Patricia Romero, class of 2010, received a $2,000 John Douglas scholarship and a $2,000 Nordic Bear scholarship.
Isabelle Wilkinson, Warden High School class of 2015, received the $5,000 Washington Fruit & Produce Company scholarship. Glenn Kallstrom, Ephrata High School class of 2012, received a $1,000 Antles Pollen scholarship.
Noah Porter, class of 2015 from Moses Lake Christian Academy, received the $1,000 Pace International scholarship. Andrea Farias received a Valley Fruit Company scholarship paying for tuition at Big Bend Community College. Farias is a graduate of Highland High School, Cowiche.
Foundation scholarships are available to students whose parents are employed in the tree fruit industry, said Jennifer Witherbee, foundation executive director. Students were recognized at luncheons in Wenatchee and Yakima in late July.
