Life is full of everyday miracles
People ask themselves if God is still around. He is, and He is the one behind everyday miracles.
The Bible talks about God's miracles, but you don't hear much about them today. We have just forgotten how to look for or recognize miracles.
People still refer to the miracle of birth and, every spring, my husband and I witness this on our farm. There is nothing more miraculous than seeing a creature take its first breath and come to life.
But all miracles aren't this startling.
You will notice things in life that just seem to line up correctly. We call these coincidences, but are they random acts or are they planned by God?
An example of this is the way my family ended up in the Moses Lake area.
My youngest daughter was "gifted". The school she attended did not have a gifted program. So I started applying for teaching positions in school districts that could provide her with accelerated learning.
The Moses Lake School District met the criteria. The girls and I moved to Moses Lake in the fall of 2000. My husband stayed with our home in the Colville area working at his job and trying to sell our house.
This went on for two years. In March of 2002, I decided to start praying in earnest for God to show us what to do because long distance marriages are hard. It was at this point, that the "coincidences" started happening.
First my husband Mike started having high blood pressure and needed to see a doctor. He picked one out of the phone book because he didn't have a doctor.
Second, the Ziegler Lumber Co. decided to build a store in Moses Lake. Third, our real estate agent finally showed our Colville home to potential buyers.
During his doctor's appointment, Mike mentioned he needed to find a job in Moses Lake. The doctor turned out to be close friends with one of the Ziegler brothers.
The Ziegler family met with Mike and gave him a job with the crew that was going to build the new store. They also agreed that, when the store was finished, Mike would become an employee.
Two days later our house sold and Mike made arrangements to move to our home in Moses Lake.
Who goes to the doctor and comes home with a job?
I call this an everyday miracle. What are the odds that Mike would randomly pick a doctor that would be friends with someone that would give him a job in the exact place that he needed to be and then guarantee him continuing employment?
What happened was no coincidence.
God has a plan for each and every one of us, and He uses everyday things to put his plans in to action.
I became a minister because I did something unusual and read the Nickle Nick want ads. There was an ad that said, "Come sing with our choir, you don't have to be a member" at Moses Lake United Methodist church.
What are the chances of a public school music teacher seeing that ad? I went, sang with the choir and then God took my faith one step further. Another everyday miracle.
I recommend you look for God as you go through life. The miracles are happening; you just have to recognize them.
