Rita Alma Carras

June 8, 1922 - July 17, 2015

Rita Alma Carras (Boisvert) was taken to heaven to join the angels and her Lord on July 17, 2015. We were taken by surprise when we received her terminal diagnosis and then just a few short weeks later, God decided it was time to take this beautiful woman home, to heaven. Rita Carras was born June 8, 1922 to the late Josephine and George Boisvert in Fall River, Mass. She grew up on the family farm in Rhode Island. On February 5, 1945, Rita married her childhood friend and the love of her life, Richard Carras. Richard and Rita traveled from the East coast to California and back for a total of four cross country trips. During this time, they were blessed with seven beautiful children. She was a devoted, loving mother and wife who took great pride in taking care of her children and husband. Her love and care for others extended to several grandchildren, great- and great-great-grandchildren as well as several relatives, extended family and her friends.

Being very petite at 4'5" (I think with heeled dancing shoes) and maybe a size 0, she presented a very sweet and adorable presence. Ms. Rita had an amazing, larger than life, positive personality, a huge heart and an incredible memory that made her the best story teller. She loved sharing memories from the old days and to hear her tell a story with such detail and her tiny hands moving along with her expressions, captivated any listener. She had an unwavering faith in God and always said her prayers every night. She believed the good in all and whatever was wrong with today, would be better by tomorrow.

Until December 2014, Ms. Rita danced every Thursday at the Moses Lake Senior Center. She was a very beautiful and graceful ballroom dancer. As well as dancing, she loved to sing and play the ukulele. Her other talents and hobbies were cooking, sewing, crocheting and knitting. Not only was she very talented in her hobbies, but she shared and gave almost everything she crafted to her family, neighbors or anyone in need. She loved to garden and travel and see and experience anything new. Ms. Rita loved celebrating the holidays and looked forward to any of them! The last several years she loved decorating a Christmas tree three times her size, opening presents and her stocking Christmas morning. She was happy and excited with any gift she received. She enjoyed decorating Easter eggs and hunting for her special eggs with the kids. Valentine's Day, Mother's Day and birthday's were filled with baskets of chocolates, flowers and special dinners! This last Fourth of July, she stayed up past her bedtime (8:00 p.m.) to eat pie and watch the fireworks with us! She marveled at the latest of technology and was always curious! She was amazed how I could snap her picture with a phone and text message it instantly to someone far way! She was really impressed how (Siri) "that women in my phone gave us the right directions to where we were going and never even got lost!"

Months before her 93rd birthday, she decided it was time to "retire" and begin her new home with her son, Dennis. Her daily life was filled with companionship, love and excitement. It was never a a dull moment around here especially with twins, Cooper and Caden living next door, proudly having "their little Grandma" so close. Ms. Rita was a pleasure to take places and I was always proud to be seen with her. Her blue sparkling eyes and sweet smile would cause anyone walking by to smile and comment how cute she was. You were truly, one of a kind. We will miss you greatly and seeing your smile everyday.

Ms. Carras is preceded by her husband Richard of 57 years of marriage and her daughter, Beverly. She is survived by her children Marlene Carras of Maine, Beverly Carras, Joann Carras (Ron), Rick Carras, Dennis Carras of Washington, Rochelle Carras of California and Debra Buckley of Washington, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers Al Boisvert and Arthur Caron, nieces Francis Mills, Barbara Poor, Pamela Boisvert and nephews Richard Boisvert and Wayne Boyer. Ms. Rita Carras will be greatly missed by all and will always be remembered in our hearts for her unconditional love, compassion and strong spirt. Until we meet again~
