Oliver 'Ollie' Click
October 13, 1930 - July 31, 2015
On July 31, 2015 longtime Grant County resident Oliver "Ollie" Click lost his battle with cancer. Ollie was a husband, father (in-law), brother-in-law, veteran, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was born Oliver Lincoln Click Oct. 13, 1930 in Usk, Wash. to Owen and Catherine Click. Ollie graduated from Mead High School in 1948. In 1951 he joined the Navy and served as a boilerman during the Korean Conflict. As a result of his service in the Navy, he was able to attend Washington State College under the GI Bill where he studied Agronomy. Ollie was also part of the last graduating class at Washington State College, now known as WSU.
While attending college he met Patricia Durkin and they were married in June of 1959. They moved to Grant County later in 1959 where they started their family and Ollie found his passion for showing dogs. At the time, he worked for the Department of Natural Resources and later the Bureau of Reclamation.
In 1978 Ollie founded Central Washington Appraisals and co- founded the 3 C's (Care, Comfort & Conditioning) Dog Supplies with wife Pat. Ollie, Pat and Rocky continued attending dog shows as vendors and handlers throughout the Pacific Northwest. He continued to show dogs as a Professional All-Breed Handler and he never met a dog he didn't like. In later years the business grew and people looked forward to seeing the purple bags of the 3 C's at the dog shows.
Ollie served on many boards throughout Grant County including the Fair Association and Advisory Committee, Board of Adjustment and Planning Commission, and the Association of Realtors. He was the President of the Professional Handlers Association, as well as a longtime member of the Wenatchee and Moses Lake Kennel clubs.
Ollie is survived by his wife of 56 years Pat; son and daughter-in-law Rocky and Chiara Click; grandchildren Sydney, Taylor and Jordan Hurst; great-granddaughter Graysen Hurst; siblings Ida Rile, David (Laurel) Click; in-laws Kim & Katy Wilson and many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank Hospice, Confluence Oncology Staff, and Columbia Basin Staff for their medical and emotional support for Ollie. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking donations be made, in Ollie's name, to Cancer Research.
A public memorial will be Thursday, August 20th at 1:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Chapel, 612 3rd Ave. SE (on the corner of 3rd Ave. and Nat Washington Way), Ephrata, Wash.
