Alan C. Dowey, a resident of Moses Lake, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015, after a long battle with cancer, at Providence Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, Wash. surrounded by his loving family.

Alan Dowey was born in Waltham, Mass. June 27, 1961 a son of the late Francis M. and Edna M. (Horgan) Dowey and grew up in Ayer, Mass. He was a 1980 graduate of Ayer Jr. Sr. High School.

He leaves his best friend and loving wife of 27 years, Rosemarie (Perrone) Dowey, a daughter Raffaela and her husband Rusty Pixton of Warden, Wash.; a brother David E. Dowey of Ayer, Mass.; four sisters Anne E. and her husband James Martel of Fitchburg, Mass., Robin F. and her husband David Grossman of Lunenburg, Mass., Julie A. and her husband Christopher Rucho of West Boylston, Mass. and Pauline M. Partridge of Ayer, Mass.; father- and mother-in-law George and Raffaela Perrone, sister-in-law Kathy Rando of Shirley, Mass.; nine nephews Jason and Nicholas Martel, Daniel and Benjamin Grossman, Matthew, Brian and William Rucho, Paul and George Rando and three nieces, Jessica Sangrones, Meghan Partridge and Maria Rando; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

For the past 12 years Alan Dowey worked at Big Bend Community College as part of the Maintenance Team in Moses Lake, Wash. Before moving to Washington, Alan worked for the Massachusetts State Police, in their Maintenance Department for 15 years, and lived in Maynard, Mass. with his wife Rosemarie and daughter Raffaela.

Alan always had a smile on his face, and was an avid Boston sports fan. He loved to dance and spend time with his wife and daughter. Alan lived each and every day to its fullest, and filled his 53 years with so much joy. He enjoyed many family vacations in York Beach, Maine, with many childhood memories with his cousins, Billy Poitras and Jimmy Cote. He will be remembered for his kind and bright personality, his generous and kind heart, and his contagious smile.

A memorial service will be held in Alan's honor on Friday, May 1 at 3:00 p.m. at Kayser's Chapel of Memories, 831 S Pioneer Way, Moses Lake. A memorial gathering will be held following the ceremony at the Dowey Residence. A rosary will be prayed at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church on Friday, May 1 at 10:30 a.m., followed by a mass in Alan's honor at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel and Crematory.
