Gerald 'Jerry' Wiuff
January 5, 1939 - April 5, 2015
Jerry Wiuff, longtime resident of Moses Lake, passed away at his home on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015. Jerry was born Jan. 5, 1939 in Owatonna, Minn. He entered the navy at age 16 and served for four years on the ship USS Cocopa in Japan, the Philippines and Australia. Jerry worked for many years in heavy construction in Eugene, Ore. He came back to Moses Lake around 1985 and has resided in Moses Lake since that time. He was employed by AAA Ready Mix and Central Towing.
Jerry was an avid motorcyclist, touring the western half of the United States. He belonged to several motorcycle groups during his life. The United Motorcycle Club International and the Christian Motorcycle Association (Inland Empire Victory Riders of Spokane) were his favorites. He attended motorcycle rallies and CMA events riding thousands of miles each year. "Riding for the Son" was his passion and he would always say "Let's go, we're burning daylight."
Jerry had been struggling with cancer since 2001. He was a strong and courageous man and never once complained about his illness. He mentioned often that he would "play the hand that he was dealt."
Jerry had so many friends and touched so many lives. In later years, he made his daily rounds to various businesses, delivering his assorted pastries and donuts.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Chris and Margaret Wiuff, sister Donna, two nephews and one great-nephew.
He is survived by his daughter Brenda, one grandson and one great-grandson. Also surviving is his brother Jim (Mary) Wiuff of Eugene, Ore, sister Carrol Jackson of Springfield, Ore, sister Vonnie (Keith) Hansen, Moses Lake, brother-in-law Richard Gasner of Owatonna, Minn, numerous nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 18 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1020 "A" street in Moses Lake with Pastor Walter Klockers and Dr. Paul Wagner officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Moses Lake or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
